Currently I'm restoring a car: an Opel Rekord A Coupé.
And there is one thing for sure: the restore costs are much more than that what the car is worth. But it is a rare car, and I like it. So I restore it.
But I wouldn't buy that 320i, and restore that one. That's just because there are more then enough 320i's Baur that are roadworthy, and cost a lot less (buying+restoring for the ebay-car/buying+getting it nice for a roadworthy car). And that you get a car that's already been messed around with. And you have to buy many things new (as in: you mis it: my Rekord was almost complete).
When I would restore a E30 Baur: I would go for a top-of-the-range car: 323i/325i/325iX/325E.
